lease but no deposit

I signed a lease in March. I was asked to provide a security deposit at the time. I did not. I promised too but have not yet sent it. The landlord emailed me and demanded the security deposit by friday. I again did not pay it. I then got a letter today saying the lease is void. The lease did not state when the security deposit was due. Can he do this?

This may be legal because the execution of the lease may have been conditioned upon receipt of the security deposit. I would contact a local real estate/property attorney to help you with the matter.
