dirtbike

a policeman came to my home and said that based on info from another child he said my son was riding a dirtbike on the roadway and when he went to pursue them he caught the one boy but not the other one he said my son ran from him.. he did not know my sons name,what kind of bike it was,only that it was blue and whitewhat kind of helmet etc..he wants me to bring my son in for questioning.when i asked my son about it hesaid he was not rding his bike that day,but other boys were. also the police officier was facing backwards about hundreds of feet away.do i have to take him in for questioning?what kind of facts does the police officier have to haveto issue a citation.i feel he wants to try to get my son to say it was him and then he can issue the citation.

Your son has not been charged with anything yet and he also has a right to remain silent. He does not have to go to the police station to answer questions. If in fact your son is innocent and you want to be cautious, I recommend you bring an attorney with you to represent your son during the questioning to make sure the police don't try to interrogate him.
