forgot I had insuance

I have been paying insuance for my home appliances for 2 years but I forgot I had it. I tried to get my a/c fixed but it was beyond repair due to age and problems si I had it replaced. about a year later I realized i had coverage for it. Do the need to reimburse me or am I screwed. Please help.
