Apparently my neckless along with other items where stollen from a friends house about a month ago. There was a police report filled . My Opal neckless was valued at over $1200.00 It was one of a kind.
What are my legal rights to this situation? Can I go to the owner of the property and talk to him about filing a claim wiith his home owners insurance? or how would I do this?

You may be able to have your friend file the claim depending on what is covered in the home owners insurance policy. You should have your friend go through his policy or take it to an attorney to review it. Other than having your friend file a claim, or unless your own policy covers such a contingency, I don't see any other way of recovery except to ask your friend to repay you for the necklace.
