DA offers plea deal after trial conviction

What does it mean when the DA offers a person a plea deal "AFTER" that person has been already convicted in a jury trial? Sentencing was postponed because of this new deal. Is it because the DA is fearful of losing the appeal? Is this even legal? ...If so, is this a good thing?

It could be for several different reasons, including the one you mentioned. It could be because the DA feels for the defendant and wants to offer a better sentence than what the judge will order. It is hard to say for certain. This is also something you should just be able to ask him.
