What can I do legally to get my car back from the buyer that has gotten behind on payments?

I verbally agreed to sell the vehicle for $1000 at a minimum of $100 per month. It has now been 11 months and he still owes $200. As he was getting behind months ago I kept getting on him about it but took it easy. But now he is avoiding me, not returning phone calls ect... I have asked him to turn the car back in and he is ignoring me. Can I get the police involved or do I need to handle it on my own? Thanks! I do still hold the title.

I don't see any way you will be able to get the car back since there is no proof of sale. Did you turn over the vehicle ownership (pink slip) to him as well? Because if not, you still hold legal title to the car and then you can call the police to attempt to reclaim it.
